What Inlet?

The terms, in plain English.

What this site is

What Inlet? is a fishing forecast built for fun by three friends. The bite scores, windows, outlooks, and alerts are predictions from a model — educated guesses, calibrated against history, argued about constantly. Fish have not signed off on any of it. Use the site as one input among many, not as a promise that anything will bite.

Regulations: verify before anything rides home in the cooler

The seasons, sizes, and bag limits shown here are a convenience summary. We check them against the official state sources and date our checks, but rules change mid-season, emergency closures happen, and our tables can lag or contain mistakes. The only version that counts is your state agency's — every regs table on this site links to it. You are responsible for following the law, not us.

The water can hurt you

Jetties, inlets, bars, and boats are genuinely dangerous. Weather forecasts (ours and everyone's) are wrong sometimes; warnings can arrive late or not at all; a "calm" forecast is not a guarantee of calm water. You alone judge whether conditions are safe for you, your crew, and your boat. If the water looks wrong, it is wrong — the fish will keep, and the pub is always open.

Alerts & availability

Bite alerts are best-effort: push delivery depends on your device, your browser, and networks we don't control, and the evening check can miss a run. Don't build anything that matters on an alert arriving. The site itself may go down, change, or retire features at any time — it's a labor of love, not a service contract.

Sponsors & links

We link out to cams, shops, reports, and maps because they're useful — we don't control those sites. If a local business sponsors a slot (a pub recommendation, a cook-your-catch kitchen), it's labeled as theirs and they're paying for the spot; we still only take sponsors we'd actually send a friend to. Their food, taps, and service are between you and them.

The legal paragraph

The site and everything on it are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, and uninterrupted availability. To the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) the site, its forecasts, regs summaries, alerts, or links — including lost trips, lost gear, fines, injuries, or worse. Your only remedy is to stop using the site. By using What Inlet?, you accept these terms; we may update them, and the date below moves when we do.
